How it works
- You curate each list. Pick recommended products for a product, or recommended variants for a single variant - “Sold out in M? Try L”. See Curate recommendations.
- Variants inherit the product list. A variant with its own list overrides the product’s list for that variant only.
- They show when stock runs out. By default, recommendations appear when the selected variant is sold out or its pre-order is fully booked. Change this in Recommendations settings.
- Only buyable picks show. Draft, archived, unpublished and gift card products are skipped, and so are sold-out picks unless you choose to keep them. The storefront shows up to 2 at once by default.
- Cards link to the recommended product. Each card shows the image, title and price, and opens that product or variant.
- Results are tracked. Views, clicks, add to carts, checkouts and orders appear on Recommendations → Overview. See Recommendations tracking.
Recommendations are off on the Hibernate plan. You can still curate lists - they show once you move to Starter or above. See Plans and billing.
What you need to do
- Add the Bloom Recommendations block to your product template (one-time setup)
- Curate recommendations for the products that sell out
- [Optional] Adjust settings, design and content - when they show, layout, heading
- [Optional] Set up tracking - GTM, GA4 and the checkout pixel
When recommendations show on the storefront
A product page must meet all of these conditions:- Your plan is Starter or above
- The Bloom Recommendations block is on the product template
- The selected variant matches a Display setting - sold out and fully booked pre-order are on by default
- The product or variant has a curated list, and recommendations aren’t switched off for it
- At least one pick is active, published to the Online Store and in stock - or Sold-out recommendations is on
- The product isn’t a gift card
