# Connect your AI assistant

> Connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to Glide in Shopify so it can read your traffic report, recent activity and tracking status without changing anything.

Connect an AI assistant to read your Glide traffic over MCP. Access is **read only** - there's no access level to choose. Requires an assistant that supports remote MCP servers.

## Steps

1. In Shopify admin, open **Apps → Glide**.
2. Go to **Agent connections** in the app navigation.
3. Under **Connect an assistant**, click **Copy URL** next to **MCP server URL**.
4. Add the URL as a remote MCP server in your assistant.
5. Follow the assistant's connection steps. When it asks for your store, use the part after `/store/` in your Shopify admin address.
6. In Shopify, **Connect an AI assistant** opens. Check the assistant and the address under **Returns to**, then click **Approve**.
7. Return to your assistant.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Agent connections** only appears in the app navigation when connections are switched on for your store. Otherwise the page reads *"Agent connections aren't available yet"*. Your traffic report is unaffected.

## Check before you approve

The approval screen reads *"Claude wants to read your Glide data"* (with your assistant's name) and shows your store.

* **Verified** - the return address is `claude.ai` or `chatgpt.com`.
* **Unverified** - any other address. Glide warns *"Glide doesn't recognise this address"*. Only approve if you started the connection yourself.

Click **Deny** to refuse.

## What your assistant can do

* **Can read** - your traffic report (visits, pages, countries, sources and devices), recent activity (the latest page views, without visitor identities) and tracking status.
* **Cannot** - change anything in your store or in Glide, or see visitor identities, IP addresses or visitor IDs.

These are the same three tools [Sidekick](https://help.goodnative.co/glide/sidekick.md) uses: `get_traffic_report`, `get_recent_activity` and `get_tracking_status`.

## Example prompts

* *"Summarise my Glide traffic for the last 30 days. How much looks Human?"*
* *"Was there a spike in Suspect or Bot traffic this month? When?"*
* *"Which pages and sources get the most Agents traffic?"*

## Disconnect

**Agent connections → Connected assistants** lists each assistant with **Connected by**, **Connected**, **Last used** and **Expires**. Click **Disconnect**, then **Disconnect** again to confirm. The assistant loses access straight away, and you can connect it again later.

Connections end after **30 days**. Reconnect after expiry. Uninstalling Glide deletes all connections.

Disconnecting doesn't remove data the assistant already read. Its provider handles that data under your agreement with them.
