# Curate recommendations

> Choose the alternative products or variants Bloom recommends on a sold-out Shopify product page, per product or per variant, one at a time or in bulk.

Recommendations are curated **per product**, with optional **per-variant overrides**. A product's list applies to every variant unless a variant has its own list.

## Steps

1. In Shopify admin, open **Apps → Bloom**.
2. Go to **Recommendations → Configure products**.
3. Find the product with the search and filter bar - filter by **Recommendation state** (**Live** or **Nothing curated**), status, stock, vendor, tag, type or collection.
4. On the product row, click **Set** (or **Edit**) in the **Recommendations** column and pick products in the Shopify picker.
5. Click **Save**.

Click **View list** to drag picks into the order shoppers see them.

## Override one variant

Variants sit beneath their product. A variant row shows **Product list** when it inherits. To give a variant its own list:

1. On the variant row, click **Override** and pick variants - including other sizes of the same product.
2. Click **Save**.

Click **Remove override** to send the variant back to the product list.

## Columns

* **Status** - **Live** when recommendations are reaching shoppers right now.
* **Stock** - current inventory. Recommendations show when a variant is sold out.
* **Show** - turns recommendations on or off for the product or variant. The product switch covers every variant. Your curated list is kept either way.
* **Recommendations** - the alternatives shoppers see. A badge flags any pick that can't show - *Draft*, *Archived*, *Deleted*, not on the Online Store, or a gift card.

  Curate more picks than you show. **Products to show** caps how many appear at once, and extras fill in when an earlier pick sells out. See [Recommendations settings](/bloom/recommendations/settings#design).

## Bulk edit

Open **Bulk edit** above the table to change **Show** or set one list across every product in the current view. Click **Apply**, untick any product you want left as it is, then confirm.

## Bulk edit by CSV

Click **Upload** or **More actions → Export** in the page header to manage lists in a spreadsheet. **More actions → Download template** gives a file with worked examples. See [Products CSV](/bloom/products-csv#recommendations-csv).
