# Connect your AI assistant

> Connect an AI assistant to Bloom in Shopify so you can check your setup, preview changes and approve live updates.

Connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to read your Bloom setup and prepare changes. Requires **Pro or above** and an assistant that supports remote MCP connections.

## Steps

1. In Shopify admin, open [**Apps → Bloom**](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/bloom-good-native).
2. Go to [**Settings → Agent connections**](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/bloom-good-native/app/settings/agents).
3. Click **Copy setup prompt** and paste it into your AI assistant.
4. Follow the assistant's connection instructions. Enter your store name if asked - the part after `/store/` in your Shopify admin address.
5. In Shopify, check the store and assistant requesting access. Choose an access level below, then click **Approve**.
6. Return to your assistant. It calls `bloom_status`, then `bloom_help`, to confirm your store, access and available tools.

* **Read only** - read your setup and prepare plans. The assistant cannot apply changes.
* **Read and write** - the same access, plus permission to apply changes.

### Manual setup

In **Agent connections**, expand **Manual setup** and click **Copy URL**. Add that URL as a custom connector or remote MCP server in your assistant. Choose **Streamable HTTP** if it asks for a transport, then continue from step 4.

Use the URL shown in Bloom. If your screen only has **Copy**, it copies the server URL. Connector availability depends on your assistant and its plan.

### Copy the setup prompt

This is the prompt from Bloom's admin. Replace `BLOOM_MCP_URL` with the URL from **Manual setup → Copy URL**, then paste it into your assistant. **Copy setup prompt** fills in the URL for you.

```text theme={null}
Help me connect my AI assistant to Bloom for my Shopify store.
Add Bloom as a remote MCP server using Streamable HTTP at:
BLOOM_MCP_URL
Use your supported MCP configuration flow. If you cannot configure the connection yourself, give me the exact steps for this assistant. Guide me through Bloom's authorization page so I can choose my store and access level. Let me approve the connection myself.
Once connected, call bloom_status, then bloom_help. Confirm the connected store and access level, and briefly explain how you can help with pre-orders, notify me, and out-of-stock recommendations. Do not make any store changes during setup. For future changes, show me the change plan and wait for my approval before calling bloom_apply.
## What your assistant can do
Your assistant can read store status, product and variant configuration, widget design, content and settings, and Notify Me campaigns. It can also read aggregate performance for the last 30 days and Change History.
It can prepare plans for:
* **Pre-orders** - turn them on or off, set oversell limits and change ship dates.
* **Notify Me** - turn it on or off and assign an existing campaign.
* **Recommendations** - replace product lists or variant overrides, fill a list from a collection and change whether unavailable picks keep showing. Picks that cannot show are left out and listed.
* **Widgets** - change shared design, content and settings across all Widget States.
* **Shop settings** - select a list in an already connected Klaviyo account, change event tracking and supported advanced settings.
Read-only connections can prepare these plans. To apply one, reconnect with **Read and write** and request a fresh plan.
## How changes work
1. The assistant shows a plan with before and after values, counts and warnings.
2. You review it and approve the changes.
3. The assistant calls `bloom_apply`. Check the result in [**Change History**](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/bloom-good-native/app/change-history).
<Warning>
  Changes go live when applied. They are not saved as drafts, and there is no automatic undo. Bloom tells the assistant to wait for approval, but cannot verify that you approved each plan. Choose **Read only** to prevent it from applying changes.
</Warning>
Plans expire after **10 minutes** and apply **once**. Conflicting edits cause Bloom to reject the plan. Request a new preview and approve it again.
Change History records source **Agent**, the assistant and whoever approved the connection. Plans changing more than **50 variants** or **50 recommendation lists** run in the background. Check the final status for failures or partial completion.
Publishing an existing widget draft can overwrite the assistant's live widget changes. Applying recommendation lists also replaces and publishes their draft lists. Review the plan's warnings.
## Limits
* **Widget states** - edit a single state or clear a widget value in Bloom.
* **Open pre-orders** - later, newly added or cleared ship dates must be changed in Bloom so buyers can be told. The assistant can move an existing date earlier.
* **Account actions** - billing, uninstalling, resetting settings and connecting or disconnecting Klaviyo must be done in Bloom or Shopify.
* **Bulk plans** - up to **250 variants** and **20 change instructions** per product plan; **25 picks** per recommendation list. Lists replace the whole list in the shown order. Previews show at most **50 change rows** and flag omitted rows. Request smaller plans to review every change.
* **Large audits** - product reads return at most **100 rows** per request. Selections scan at most **5,000 variants**; narrow filters on larger stores. Small performance counts can appear as `<10`. Test storefront behaviour and notification delivery on your store.
## Example prompts
* *"Audit my Bloom setup and the last 30 days of results. Flag gaps and incomplete results. Don't change anything."*
* *"Preview enabling pre-order for the sold-out Linen Shirt variants with an oversell limit of 20. Show before and after values and warnings. Wait for my approval."*
* *"Prepare recommendations for the Linen Shirt using the first five products in Summer Essentials. Show the order, lists being replaced and excluded picks. Wait for my approval."*
## Disconnect or change access
Open [**Settings → Agent connections**](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/bloom-good-native/app/settings/agents) to see connected assistants, approvers, access levels and last use. Click **Disconnect** to stop further requests. This does not undo changes or remove data already shared with the assistant's provider.
Connections expire after **30 days**. Reconnect after expiry or to choose a different access level. Moving below Pro blocks access; upgrading restores it while the connection remains unexpired. Uninstalling Bloom removes all connections.
## Your data
Bloom returns data only for your store. It does not send your Shopify access token or customer contact records: names, email addresses, phone numbers or addresses.
Staff names in Change History can reach the assistant's provider. Its handling of shared data follows your agreement with that provider. See [Data and privacy](/policies/data-and-privacy#ai-assistant-connections) for connection data, retention and sharing.
